on the virtues of buying CDs

reasons to buy CDs:
- you can get them used, really really cheap online
- you get a whole album instead of one song
- you get liner notes
- you can rip them at any bitrate you want
- you can play them on any device/brand you want
- if you bought songs with DRM from itunes and your ipod breaks, you have to buy another ipod
- you can sell them when you're done with them
- you don't have to worry about your hard drive/ipod crashing and taking all your music with it

reasons to buy digital downloads:
- you can't be bothered to drive to the used cd store or wait a few days for it to come in the mail
- most of your music collection consists of one-hit-wonders
- you are too lazy to rip your own CDs

I qualify for all 3 of the reasons to buy digital, glad to know I'm making the right choice.

I'm a little confused about the bullet about if my ipod breaks I have to buy another ipod.

if your ipod breaks and all your music has apple DRM, you have no choice but to get another apple product that is capable of playing music with apple's DRM otherwise all your music is worthless.

Digital Music
- You don't live in a house and have space to collect lots of stuff that just sits on the shelf never to be touched once its ripped
