this morning i witnessed a school bus hold up three lanes of traffic waiting for one kid to get on. it then, and i shit you not, drove half a block to the school and let the kid off. i've included a diagram illustrating what happened for you visual learners.

when I was a kid we walked 3 miles to school uphill both ways damnit! we didnt have buses to chauffeur us around! you kids today with your rock music...
Hard to tell from the satellite imagery, but is there a sidewalk there with a crosswalk? If so then they'd need a crossing guard at that crosswalk to ensure the kids are safe there - and they probably got that money cut from their budget. Or if there isn't a sidewalk then there is a failing of public infrastructure to provide options other than busing. So, there's probably lots of blame to go around (in addition to laziness).
