keyboard warriors - update

so i never got any response from the last email i sent to that guy about the stereo. i filed a claim with paypal and apparently they never got any response from him either and "resolved" the claim in my favor. i got this letter:
We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your favor.

We were able to recover $202.97 USD and this amount has been credited to you. Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted.

If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to recover the balance from the seller.

If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owedto you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account privileges.

the amount i sent to the guy originally was in fact $222.50. now i can't claim to have read the entire paypal buyer protection policy, and i'm glad i got most of my money back, but honestly, do i give a shit how much they were "able to recover"? isn't that kinda their problem? what good is buyer protection if it's limited to how much they can recover from the other party? that's more like "yeah, you know, we'll like do what we can, ya know?" i'd consider a chargeback on my credit card for the remaining amount but paypal from what i hear has a tendency to freeze people's account who do that, and it's not worth the paperwork. for more paypal horror stories check out paypalsucks.com

how did they get the $202? it seems like a pretty random amount. you should be outraged.

i like how they say if his account can't cover it we'll take appropriate action... like limit his account, maybe that will make you feel better :)

You know what's funny? $202 is probably your $222, minus their service fees. So instead of refunding you completely, they've decided to keep their fees out of the illegal funds. I'd totally cancel the charge on my credit card if I were you.

we sell a lot of our merch through paypal and recently we sent out a $55 order and the buyer decided to cancel their payment.. paypal won't do anything about it. thinking about switching to google. i heart google.
