Guilt Trippin'

A little background in case anyone doesn't already know. There used to be five people in my group, the program manager, myself, two other programmers and one govie. The program manager and the two other programmers all jumped ship all within a couple of weeks of each other, leaving me to do somewhere between three and four people's worth of work. Our govie is not particularly useful. As you will note from the previous post, I've been sorta looking for a new job too. The other morning, I found this Christmas card along with a gift card on my desk from my new program manager:

Dan,

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. Thanks for the hard work. You are the "glue" and I appreciate it, especially since you've stuck around. Things will turn around and there will be many new opportunities this New Year.

Nice, huh?

I would respond with:

Pay me the salary of the three people I've replaced, and I'll actually stay here next year.

Yeah when is your first salary review with this guy?

Also, replacing the people that left with hot young women would probably convince me to stay, even if I still did all the work.
